If you are an artisan food maker looking for a permanent home in the #Austin area, Elgin may be the place. The town is hanging its downtown development on artisan food makers and is offering financial incentives. Gregg Brown, the co-owner of ATX Homemade Jerky and Artisan Market in Elgin, is featured in KVUE’s report.

Elgin’s Director of Economic Development Owen Rock told the station that downtown is the focus of the town’s growth plans — particularly food product businesses. Rock said the town is considering building a commercial kitchen that could be rented to make and sell food products.
